Scottie Scheffler has added another major achievement to an already remarkable career, capturing the 2026 FedExCup Championship with a brilliant final-round performance at East Lake Golf Club in Atlanta.
The American entered the final round of the TOUR Championship three shots behind Viktor Hovland, but once again showed why he remains one of the dominant figures in world golf.
Scheffler closed with a four-under-par 66, finishing the tournament at 16-under par (264) and three shots clear of Hovland, who finished at 13-under. Ryan Gerard completed the top three at 12-under.
Scheffler delivers when it matters
Scheffler’s victory was built on remarkable consistency across all four days at East Lake.
He opened with a 65 before following it with rounds of 67, 66 and 66. Despite Hovland holding the 54-hole lead, Scheffler applied pressure throughout Sunday and ultimately took control as his Norwegian rival struggled to reproduce the form of his opening three rounds.
The victory gave Scheffler his second FedExCup title in three years, following his previous triumph in 2024.
It also placed him in elite company. Scheffler joins Tiger Woods, who won the FedExCup twice, and Rory McIlroy, a three-time champion, as the only players to have won the season-long title multiple times.
A $10 million finish
Winning the TOUR Championship also came with one of golf’s biggest paydays.
Scheffler collected $10 million from the tournament’s $40 million purse, while Hovland earned $5 million for second place and Gerard received more than $3.7 million for third.
More significantly, the victory pushed Scheffler’s career PGA TOUR earnings beyond $130 million, moving him ahead of Tiger Woods on the PGA TOUR’s all-time official money list.
Another outstanding season
The FedExCup provided a fitting conclusion to another remarkably consistent year.
Scheffler finished the 2026 PGA TOUR season with three victories and 13 top-10 finishes from 20 events.
His best golf also arrived when the pressure was highest.
Scheffler won the FedEx St. Jude Championship during the Playoffs before completing the job at East Lake. In doing so, he became the first player since Hovland in 2023 to win multiple FedExCup Playoff events in the same season.
It was also an intriguing season across the wider PGA TOUR. Matt Fitzpatrick and Chris Gotterup joined Scheffler as three-time winners, while the four majors were shared between Rory McIlroy at the Masters, Aaron Rai at the PGA Championship, Wyndham Clark at the U.S. Open and New Zealand’s Ryan Fox at The Open Championship.
Scheffler ends 2026 on top
The FedExCup is designed to reward players who perform throughout the season but can still produce their best golf when everything is on the line.
In 2026, that player was Scottie Scheffler.
A three-shot victory at East Lake, a second FedExCup title, $10 million in prize money and another place in the PGA TOUR record books provided a fitting conclusion to his season.
For Scheffler, the extraordinary is increasingly becoming routine.
