The Springboks vs All Blacks rivalry enters a massive new chapter in 2026 as New Zealand embarks on its first full-scale tour of South Africa in 30 years. Billed as “Rugby’s Greatest Rivalry”, the tour features four Tests between the two most successful nations in Rugby World Cup history, beginning at Ellis Park on Saturday, 22 August.

South Africa enter the opening Test as the world’s No.1-ranked team, narrowly ahead of New Zealand, and have won five of their previous six meetings with the All Blacks. Their most recent clash produced a record 43–10 Springbok victory in Wellington.
But writing off New Zealand would be dangerous.
The All Blacks have enjoyed an impressive build-up in South Africa, including a 50–19 victory over the Bulls, and arrive with attacking threats including Ardie Savea, Will Jordan, Cam Roigard and Damian McKenzie.
