British Open 2022 is around the corner

It will be a historic week at the home of golf when the 150th British Open tees off Thursday, July 14 on the Old Course at St. Andrews.

Tiger Woods shed some light on his post-PGA Championship activity when he spoke after his final round Tuesday at the JP McManus Pro-Am, which marked Woods’ first public appearance since withdrawing prior to the final round at Southern Hills—and his last appearance ahead of competing next week at St. Andrews in The 150th Open.

Woods, who shot seven over for the two-day charity competition at Adare Manor in Ireland, said he initially did plan to play last month’s U.S. Open but that his body had other thoughts.

The 2022 Open Championship will be a chance for Scottie Scheffler, Justin Thomas and Matt Fitzpatrick to win a second major this year. It also will be an opportunity for players like Sam Burns, Cameron Smith and Will Zalatoris to nab a first major title.

Defending champion Collin Morikawa is among those in the 2022 Open Championship field who can add to multiple titles, including 2014 Open champion Rory McIroy and 15-time major winner Tiger Woods.

The latest 2022 British Open odds at Caesars Sportsbook list McIlroy as the 9-1 favorite. He is followed closely by Jon Rahm (11-1) and 2022 Masters champion Scheffler (12-1). PGA Championship winner Justin Thomas (14-1), Morikawa (18-1) and U.S. Open champ Fitzpatrick (20-1) also are among the favorites in the Open Championship 2022 field.

There is no doubt fans will be cheering on each golfer at the 150th edition of the Open Championship at St Andrews.
