Aryna Sabalenka Beat Amanda Anisimova To Defend Her US Open 2025 Women’s Singles Title

Aryna Sabalenka has etched her name into the history books once again, defending her US Open title with a 6-3, 7-6(3) victory over Amanda Anisimova in Sunday’s women’s singles final. Under the roof of Arthur Ashe Stadium, the world No. 1 needed just one hour and 34 minutes to secure her second consecutive championship in New York.

With the win, Sabalenka became the first woman since Serena Williams (2012–14) to go back-to-back at Flushing Meadows. It was a powerful reminder of her consistency at the highest level, particularly after a season that had tested her resolve. Earlier in 2025, the Belarusian fell short in both the Australian Open and French Open finals, but she saved her very best for the US Open stage.

The match itself was a blend of Sabalenka’s trademark aggression and Anisimova’s fearless shot-making. The American, playing in her second Grand Slam final of the year, showed a much-improved performance compared to her one-sided Wimbledon defeat to Iga Świątek. She pushed Sabalenka hard in the second set, even forcing a tiebreak before the champion’s big-match experience carried her through.

Despite the loss, Anisimova’s strong run will see her rise to No. 4 in the world rankings, confirming her as one of the new forces in women’s tennis.

For Sabalenka, though, this triumph is another milestone in a career that continues to climb. A two-time US Open champion and still firmly world No. 1, she has proven she is the player to beat on the biggest stages.
