The United States has once again cemented its dominance in the Presidents Cup, claiming an 18 ½ to 11 ½ victory over a spirited International Team in Montreal. This win marks the 13th time the U.S. has triumphed in the event’s 15 editions, continuing a remarkable two-decade streak of success.
Leading the charge on Sunday was Xander Schauffele, who decisively defeated former World No. 1 Jason Day 4&3 in their singles match at Royal Montreal Golf Club. Schauffele’s commanding performance set the tone for the day, and just a few matches later, Keegan Bradley secured the clinching point with a hard-fought 1 Up win over Si Woo Kim, officially sealing the U.S. victory.
The Americans entered the final day with an 11-7 lead, having swept Thursday’s matches and delivered strong performances on Saturday. Needing just 4 ½ points to secure the Cup, Team USA wasted no time, with Schauffele, Collin Morikawa, and Patrick Cantlay all finishing the week with impressive 4-1-0 records.
While the International Team fought valiantly, with Hideki Matsuyama defeating World No. 1 Scottie Scheffler and Corey Conners beating Tony Finau 5&3, they ultimately couldn’t keep up with the relentless U.S. squad. Russell Henley’s 3&2 victory over Sungjae Im and Cantlay’s 3&1 win over Taylor Pendrith pushed the Americans within one point of the title before Bradley clinched it with his win.
Bradley’s victory was especially sweet, as the 2025 U.S. Ryder Cup captain had been controversially left off last year’s Ryder Cup squad but has since staged a career resurgence. His passion for team match play was evident as he celebrated the win, a fitting end to a dominant U.S. performance.
Despite the Internationals showing flashes of brilliance, including wins by Christiaan Bezuidenhout and Max Homa closing out Mackenzie Hughes 2&1, the U.S. reign remains unchallenged. With another Presidents Cup in the bag, talk has already turned to the future of the event and how the International Team might break the U.S. stranglehold. For now, however, Team USA’s dynasty looks set to continue when the competition heads to Medinah Golf Club in 2026.
