Newcomers Gujarat Titans won the Indian Premier League 2022 championship in their first season by defeating inaugural champions Rajasthan Royals by 7 wickets in front of their home crowd.

Rajasthan Royals won the toss and opted to bat first in the match and they fielded an unchanged playing XI. On the other hand, Gujarat Titans got what they wanted as Hardik Pandya said that they wanted to bowl first.

Hardik Pandya was sensational with the ball, taking 3 for 17 off 4 overs to destroy the Rajasthan Royals batting line-up. He picked the key wickets of Sanju Samson, Jos Buttler and Shimron Hetmyer to keep them to 130 for 9 off 20 overs.

Rashid Khan was brilliant once again. He was difficult to get away on a slow pitch and finished with 1 for 18 off his four overs. Sai Kishore also picked two wickets as GT rounded off a clinical performance with the ball.

Chasing 131 for an IPL trophy in their debut season, the Titans got off to a poor start when Prasidh Krishna removed Wriddhiman Saha for 5 off 7 balls.

Hardik Pandya and opener Shubman Gill added 63 runs in 53 balls before the former was dismissed by Yuzvendra Chahal in the 14th over for 34.

Gill scored 45 runs off 43 balls, including 3 fours and 1 six. South African, David Miller played an amazing knock of 32 runs off 19 balls, including 3 fours and 1 six.

In the end, Shubman Gill finished things off in style by smashing a brilliant six as the Gujarat Titans won IPL 2022 with victory over Rajasthan Royals at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad.
