We Are Down Under For The 2022 Australian Open

There is no better way to start a tennis season than with the Australian Open. It is the first of the four Grand Slam events – French Open, Wimbledon, and U.S. Open.

The new edition of the tennis competition is from January 17-30, 2022. Championship participants will challenge trophies for about two weeks. The championship will be held in the Australian city of Melbourne.

Novak Djokovic, the world’s No. 1-ranked men’s tennis player, looked to be a go for the Australian Open. But those hopes faded once Djokovic’s visa was canceled a second time, and they evaporated after the 34-year-old was deported after his appeal failed.

Now, Djokovic will not get a chance to win a record 21st Grand Slam title at the 2022 Australian Open. He’s currently tied with Roger Federer and Rafael Nadal for the most ever singles titles with 20.

Novak Djokovic and Naomi Osaka were the defending champions in Men’s Singles and Women’s Singles, respectively. We are excited to see how Osaka comes out to defend her title.

With Djokovic no longer in the equation, Daniil Medvedev has a much stronger chance of winning a second straight grand slam title when he takes the court at the 2022 Australian Open.

A new wave of talented players has emerged at the top of women’s tennis, which means the 2022 Australian Open field is wide open. Australian Ashleigh Barty is the favorite, but also expected to make a run is last year’s champion Naomi Osaka. Because she took some time off to deal with mental health issues, Osaka drew an unusually low seed at 13, and could be a dangerous out. Osaka, who has sagged to No. 14 in the WTA Tour rankings, has four Grand Slam titles to her name, including the 2019 and 2021 Australian Opens.

Hollywoodbets favourite for the Men’s Single Champion is Danil Medvedev with odds of 17/20. Rafael Nadal’s odds are 11/4 to win.

Hollywoodbets favourite for the Women’s Single Champion is Ashleigh Barty with odds of 5/10. Iga Swiatek odds are 15/4 to win.
