
Sergio Aguero has had to retire from professional football due to a heart condition. Known as “Kun”, he is considered one of the greatest strikers of his generation and one of the greatest players in the history of the Premier League, during his decade-long association with Manchester City.
Aguero was handed only his second start for Barca in a Liga clash with Alaves on October 30, but had to be withdrawn early after suffering from chest pains and complaining of dizziness.
The 33-year-old was attended to on the Camp Nou pitch by the club’s medical staff before being taken to hospital for cardiological tests and will be kept under observation before undergoing a course of treatment. Barca released a statement confirming that Aguero will be unavailable for selection for the next three months, with a specialised rehabilitation programme set to be undertaken once doctors have decided on the best approach to take with his condition.
Sergio Aguero started playing football at the age of 9 when he joined the Independiente Youth team. At 15, Aguero became the youngest footballer to make a debut in the Argentine Primera Division.
Aguero scored his first goal for Independiente against Estudiantes in a 2-2 draw during the 2003-04 season.
During the 2005-06 season, Aguero scored 18 goals form 36 appearances that season. Then Aguero moved to Atletico Madrid from Independiente for a reported fee of 15 million euros.
He made his U20 appearance for the Argentina National team in 2005 and won the U20 World Cup that year. He then won the U20 World Cup again in 2007.
Aguero scored 7 goals in his first season for Atletico. Next year turned out to be a great year for Aguero as he scored 19 goals for Atletico and helped his team earn a place in the UEFA Champions League and finished as league’s 3rd highest goal scorer.
2009-10 season turned another brilliant year for Aguero as he helped Atletico win UEFA Europa League. He assisted both the goals in a 2-1 in the final against Fulham.
During the 2010-11 season Aguero scored 20 goals and he scored his first hat-trick against Mallorca. This was the final appearance for Aguero in Atletico Madrid’s colours.
Aguero then moved to Manchester City in the 2011-12 season for a reported fee of 45 million euros. He has given some amazing performances for Manchester City and helped them secure 2 Premier League titles.
